Karen is a member of the Litigation Practice Group, specializing in complex commercial, business tort, corporate dispute, and land use litigation.
Actively involved with the Oakland County Bar Association since 1994, Karen currently sits on its Board of Directors. Additionally, she is a Master in the OCBA’s chapter of the American Inns of Court. In 2015, she was appointed as a Co-Chair of the Oakland County Probate-Circuit Court Bench/Bar Conference. The OCBA honored her service in 2015 by awarding her its Distinguished Service Award.
Karen has also served on the State Bar of Michigan’s Civil Procedure and Courts Committee for a number of years and was appointed Committee Chair in 2014. The Committee is tasked with reviewing and making recommendations related to civil litigation and concerning improvements in the administration, organization, and operation of Michigan’s state courts. Through the Committee, she has worked on a number of revisions to the Michigan Court Rules, including MCR 7.122, which is the first rule in the State that sets forth the procedure for circuit courts appeals pertaining to zoning ordinances.
Since 2010, Karen has been recognized as one of Michigan’s “Super Lawyers.” She also has an “AV” peer review rating from Martindale Hubbell and was included in the dBusiness “Top Lawyers in Metropolitan Detroit.”
In 2015, she became a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society comprised of less than one-half of one percent of American Lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only.
